Sarah Palin has been a thorn in my side ever since she emerged from her gubernatorial igloo into the middle of a presidential election. She has consistently swiped my strategies ( remember the wink ), my best lines ( "Don't retreat, reload"; yeah, that was my advice to a young Windows user ) and my speaking gigs. She is the candidate-at-large of the moment in the U.S. of A but I thought that she had chosen to do a graceful fade from the spotlight. As it turns out, she pulled a Palin and quit her graceful fade halfway through and announced a full-length feature MOVIE ! Apparently it will be called "The Undefeated", which somehow manages to be somewhat correct and somewhat incorrect all at once.
Most pundits view this theatrical release as the beginning of the end, especially if you are a left-leaning pundit. Most discussions then veer into the inevitable question: Who will Sarah Palin's candidacy hurt ? Most will offer Michele Bachman or Newt Gingrich but I assure you, the person screwed the most by this latest Palin move is me, John Johnson !
For years I have been putting together a full-length feature documentary on my political career. "The Undeterred" would have featured my meteoric rise from heckler-smartass to paid heckler-smartass to outsider-slash-maverick-slash-guy-everyone-gets-mad-at to successful politician. This film was slated for release immediately after I won an elected office. Now, the project is Palin-ated. Thanks Sarah...I'm sending you the bill for 26 mini-DVs.
